For teens and adults.
Participants will learn how to make cyanotypes, also known as sun-prints. This is a method of camera-less photography where you place objects onto pre-treated photosensitive material and expose them to light to create beautiful impressions, called photograms.
Using pre-treated cloth as the canvas, we will use natural items such as flowers and leaves to create a design to expose in the afternoon sun. We will have materials available, but if you have interesting items you would like to use to create your cyanotype, feel free to bring them along!
Part of this workshop will take place outdoors so be sure to dress properly and wear sunscreen!
We need bright sunlight for this workshop. In case of bad weather, participants will be contacted with the rescheduled date and time.
Want to turn your cyanotype into something functional?
There is an optional second session on Tuesday, June 18 at 4:00 - 6:00 PM for participants to create a zippered pouch out of their cyanotypes. We're collaborating with Deepika Prakash in her new sewing workshop Repair & Renew to transform your cyanotype creations while learning essential sewing techniques. Register for the sewing workshop separately at: https://boxlib.assabetinteractive.com/calendar/repair-renew-sewing-workshop/
