Family Summer Scares: Ophie's Ghosts

Thursday, July 185:30—6:30 PMMeeting RoomSargent Memorial Library427 Massachusetts Ave, Boxborough, MA, 01719

For our family-friendly edition of Summer Scares we'll be reading Ophie's Ghosts by Justina Ireland. Read the book on your own, then join us at the library for a brief book discussion, a haunted house craft, and to hear the stories of some local haunted houses!

In this attention-grabbing and atmospheric ghost story, Ophie Harrison loses her father to a cruel act one November night in 1922, causing her mother to move her north, where Ophie gets a job at Daffodil Manor. But the house holds many ghosts only Ophie can see, including Clara, and Ophie must be courageous to seek the truth and uncover how and why Clara died in this suspenseful supernatural mystery that thoughtfully looks at the ways the past haunts the present.

When you register for this program, please indicate if you will need the library to reserve a copy of the book for you and what format you prefer. Including your library card number upon registration will assist us with placing holds on your behalf.

Note: This is our not-super-scary book, and both kids and adults are welcome to join us for this family friendly event. We recommend this book for 4th grade and up, but kids' participation is at their parents/guardians' discretion.

Summer Scares is an annual reading program from The Horror Writers Association, in partnership with United for Libraries, Book Riot, Booklist, and NoveList, which provides titles selected by a panel of authors and library workers and is designed to promote Horror as a great reading option for all ages, during any time of the year.
