This June , the Boxborough Well-Being Committee is sponsoring a free Mindful Movement Series at the Sargent Memorial Library from 10-11 am. Classes are held outside in good weather or inside in inclement weather.

6/1/2024 -- Narcyz Latecki of Chinese Martial Arts in Acton Ma

Tai Chi combines the healing energies of Qi (relaxation, breath control and energy) with martial arts movements for strength, focus and better health. This class will introduce you to principles of breathing, relaxation, stretching, balance and fundamental Martial Arts movements.

Master Latecki has over 40 years of martial arts and Tai Chi experience. He has an 8th Degree Black Belt with an Honorary Master Level. He is an ICMAC Master Hall of Fame Inductee in 2023 and Head Judge for USAWKF National Championships & USA National Martial Arts Ranking. He continues to study, research, and share his knowledge.

6/8/2024 -- Shikha Vashishtha of Studio Bollywood Boston

This Bollywood Dance Class will range from classical dances (Kathak and Bharatnatyam) to folk dances (Bhangra) to jazz and Latin inspired dance forms.

Shikha Vashishtha is trained in the Kathak form of classical dance from India and has extensive experience in Indian folk and fusion styles. For over 20 years, she has shared her expertise in creative expression through music which she will showcase in this family friendly class. Bollywood dancing is not just a form of entertainment but also a cultural expression that celebrates the vibrancy, diversity, and rich heritage of Indian cinema and music.

This Zumba Class is for everyone who finds joy in movement. There is upbeat music and choreographing that will have everyone moving their feet to the beat.

Gina’s passion for dance and fitness, which started over 30 years ago, is clearly visible when she shares her love of dance with others. Her formal dance training began with ballet, tap, jazz and hip-hop, and she continues to attend master classes, fitness workshops, and dance conventions to keep up with the latest techniques. Her classes offer an encouraging and positive atmosphere where students of all ages and abilities thrive. Gina’s depth of dance knowledge and breadth of experience enable her to bring a variety of dance elements to her classes so that everyone feels energized, engaged, and inspired.
