Hemming and mending are valuable skills that contribute to sustainable practices. Some knowledge of using a sewing machine may be required but not always necessary. The workshop will be limited to 15 people so we can learn effectively.

Closures – Learn to sew buttons, snaps, hooks and eyes

We all have those clothes, with a missing button, a broken hook or a snap and not sure how to fix them. Welcome to the August Repair and Renew workshop in which I will show you how to sew a button by hand and give a new life to all those clothes! Time permitting we will also sew some snaps and hooks and eyes.

Skill Level – Beginner. No prior knowledge of sewing is needed. 

What to bring

• Garment which needs buttons/snaps/hooks etc.
• Small scissors
• Your reading glasses (if you use them)

We will provide

• Sample fabric if you don’t have a garment to practice sewing buttons on
• Thread
• Hand sewing needles
• Buttons, snaps , hooks and eyes.
